2010 Albany State Golden Rams Football Preview by Jarrett Carter

by Jarrett Carter • Sep 2, 2010 10:30 AM EDT

The Albany State University Rams are a perennial contender for the SIAC championship, and are extra motivated to end Tuskegee’s streak of conference championships in 2010. While there are concerns at quarterback, they will have the talent on defense and offense to yield a championship-worthy finish to the year.
2009

The Golden Rams won all but two games in 2009, but their win-streak-busting loss against Tuskegee all but derailed ASU’s run to the championship. Senior quarterback A.J. McKenna was the SIAC’s Offensive Player of the Year, and the Rams go into 2010 as the favorite for the conference title.
The Good

Albany State is the SIAC’s most balanced and dominant team, leading the conference in scoring offense, rushing defense and interceptions in 2009. What they may miss on offense with A.J. McKenna, they will make up on defense with four seniors being named to the first team pre-season all-conference squad.
The Bad

One of the best quarterbacks in ASU history is gone, and the race to replace A.J. McKenna will be left to junior college transfer Stanley Jennings and 09’ backup Wayne Campbell, Jr.; neither of whom as emerged as the starter. Albany State has fallen short of beating Tuskegee University for the past three seasons, and they will have to exorcise the demons of those defeats if they want to win the 2010 conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs.

This is obviously a very brief pre-season analysis from an Atlanta-area writer that was posted late.   nod

Whoever he is doesn't know crap about what is happening. He is also dreaming if he thinks that the Goats are gonna beat Skegee for the conference  championship. Jennings had a good game against Ky State, but it will be a whole different thang when he runs into the Skegee Tigers. Junior College is not  preparatory for an encounter with the cream of D II HBCU football. Neither Jennings nor Campbell can generate enough offense to beat Skegee this year and the Goat defense will not be able to contain the offense. It should be an interesting game for one half.

My stating what I believe will happen does mean that I am upset. I talk SMACK and it isn't indicative of me being upset. Nothing upsets me about college football. As far as your business is concerned, I can talk as much as I want , whenever I want and to whomever I want. It is known as FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Nuff said Huh?

We have Benedict in the crosshairs. They are coming to us, they will fall at our feet. They shall not rise. Fight on Skegee, Fight on !! TUSKEGEE STRONG.

Roll Eyes ^^^^This dude holds more s**t in his mouth than a septic tank.  I guess the only way to clean it out is for someone to kick off in Tuskegee's a** , then we'll see how much you really stink up the place.  The Golden Rams will be invading the dust bowl in a few more weeks, so keep thinking TU is unbeatable and the "cream of D II HBCU football".  You will soon falter on all of your beliefs.

You are well within your rights to talk as much smack as you please, so by all means continue.  However, don't become a sourpuss when things don't look to be in TU's favor.

Albany State University will forever be the elite of the SIAC!!!!  nod nod
