No it won't. You should have went gone to memorial stadium. Ahh well, not my issue

We did not get all of our money 2 years ago when we played at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte.  Plus the condition of the stadium at the time the schedule was made was uncertain.

I'm actually glad that we having the aggie game on campus  nod ... helps to build case to expanded stadium on campus.  clap clap

59-0  Great outing with the back-up quarterback and two starting defensive linemen on the sidelines (Teryl White and John Drew, Duke Transfer).

More to come on the game, these late games and travel are tough.  Please check back this afternoon.

So that's where he ended up at.....John Drew....I was tracking after his incident at Duke...then he kind of fell off the radar....then I heard he was headed to Tennessee......John Drew is a good one... nod

NCCU has about 11 players that are waiting on final NCAA clearance.  Shane Moore the transfer from Marshall / Norfolk State did not play either.  With the addition of Teryl White, John Drew, and Shane Moore our defense will be even harder to run against.

I saw the Rivals video on John Drew...He's is the truth...I thought we were going to go after him but I guess that fell through... no Cry

John has a brother, Chris, who is a LB on the NCCU football team.  Since they were both in Durham I guess John decided to stay in Durham and come to NCCU.

Great game NCCU, but you still have thugs on your team.  Last night unsportsmanlike conduct shouldn't happen.  On the field and in the stands.  Don't take that to Wallace Wade Stadium this year.   Way to go Coach Rison and staff.  Maybe a couple more wins will soothe the expectations of the alumni.

Negro what is your beef with NCCU?   shrug  We do not have thugs on our football team.  It was JCSU that was repeatedly called for unsportsmanlike conduct throughout the game.  When the fight happened 3 JCSU players were trhown out on only one reserve player from NCCU.

Where did you get the notion that NCCU was playing at Wallace Wade Stadium tjhis year?   shrug  Huh?   We will not return to Wallace Wade until 2012.

Slope, that dude looks like a talking mule so he liable to say anything, and obviously doesn't have a clue. I think he was disappointed that NCCU made winning look so easy ... and he realized his team was probably going to take beatdown at Pembroke. .... He's just a little nervous ya'll; and scared.  crazy

Let see if any thugs show up at the Pembroke Invitational.    police

Name me a team without some thugs on the team or players without some thug in them and I will show you a team that loses.

We don't play in Wallace Wade this year. Consult your research department before posting. Roll Eyes

A fight huh?  brickwall What is the point of fighting?  shrug This isn't BB where you have to play more than 25 games, if you fight you get suspended you can at least come back to play in the other 20 other games. In FB, you get thrown out of that game and have to sit the net one which leaves you with 6 or 7 games left to play. And you end not hurting yourself but the team as well. JCSU, getting Molly Whopped by 59, that part comes down between you as a player and your coach letting you get away with the little things in practice!

Eagles roll despite opening-night changes
http://www.heraldsun.net/printer_friendly/9370860

09.02.10 - 11:31 pm

BY JOE JOHNSON
jjohnson@heraldsun.com; 419-6667

DURHAM -- N.C. Central played Thursday night's season opener without two of its top three players, which potentially could have been an excuse for the 59-0 final score.

Fortunately for the Eagles, they were the ones putting up the gaudy numbers at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium, shutting out Johnson C. Smith in the first Thursday night game at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium since the 1967 season.

Quarterback Michael Johnson, who was held out because the school had not received NCAA clearance to participate, and defensive lineman Teryl White, who was away from the team because of a death in his family, did not play.

But the Eagles recorded their largest margin of victory since beating Fort Jackson 85-0 in 1946. NCCU's last shutout came in 2007 when it beat St. Augustine's 6-0.

Redshirt junior Keon Williams, who started at quarterback for the first time since Nov. 22, 2008, against Savannah State, was effective for the Eagles. Williams, who saw action in eight games a year ago as Johnson's backup, threw four touchdown passes and was 14-of-22 for 110 yards without an interception. He also had 62 yards on the ground with six carries.

"I just had to get my mind right and ready to play," said Williams, who found out Thursday morning that he was going to start. "When I woke up this morning, I thought I was just going to put my hat on and give signals. I'm a vet now, so it comes naturally to me."

NCCU coach Mose Rison, who got his first season-opening win in four years, said Williams' performance should have been expected.

"He's been here four years, and he's been a part of this system for quite some time now," Rison said. "He completely understands it.

"He probably didn't think he was going to start when he woke up, but he knew he was going to play -- how much, we didn't know until this afternoon."

The Eagles set the tone early by taking the opening kickoff and then putting together a 13-play, 95-yard touchdown drive.

Junior fullback Justin Manning caught the first of his two first-half touchdown receptions on a 4-yard curl out of the backfield. He later hauled in a 5-yard pass in the second quarter that gave the Eagles a 26-0 lead.

Senior running back Tim Shankle carried 15 times for 86 yards and touchdown, Tony McCord rushed for 46 yards on nine carries. The Eagles finished with 175 yards on the ground, and Rison said he believed his team could run ball any time it wanted against the Golden Bulls.

The NCCU defense, which Rison said would be the strength of the team, lived up to its billing. NCCU held Johnson C. Smith to 233 yards of offense and forced five turnovers.

The Eagles also recorded a safety in the third quarter when Anthony Sharp sacked Ryan Carter in the end zone.

Two of the turnovers resulted in NCCU touchdowns, as James Reese returned a fumble 9 yards and Roger Stewart brought back an interception 83 yards in the fourth quarter.

Linebacker Calvin Hillie led the defense with six tackles, including three for loss and a sack.

"It's great to get a shutout in the first game of the year and get back in the groove of things," Hillie said. "It's a great confidence builder for us. We've been here four years and never won a season opener, so it was a big point of emphasis this week."

The game was marred by an on-field incident with 9:43 left in the game, which sparked a scuffle in the stands behind the Johnson C. Smith bench. It took about five minutes for the referees to get the penalties sorted out and eject three JCSU players.

Well NCCU next week will be a pratice run on how to handle the parking and crowd with WSSU coming to town.  It not like  A&T coming  but the stadium should be sold out.

Based on past results, next weeks game will have lower attendance than this weeks. .  thefan

If WSSU by chance beats A&T - the NCCU vs WSSU game will be a major sell-out next weekend.  It will still be a very nice crowd even if A&T beats them.

It would be nice if Duke would give you a game...............Nah, you don't have the common awareness of your involuntary exactitude.  I understand, you just can't help it. You have my sincere pity.
