Ok Plat. There was cloud to ground lightning all through Atlanta last night. God can send it your way as well. lol

I like the video. The 1 vs 1 tryout part was great as well. That is where you either shine or are crushed. lol Home girl in the front messed up big time when she turned around at the end. It would have been better for her stayed that way and popped up and spun really quick to turn around. nod The way she did it drew attention to her.

The drum major auditioners seemed on point as well. I just realized how much you can catch when u  slow the tape down. nod

All in all not a bad look House. nod

Well JT one of them girls sho nuff had some junk in her trunk. But on the other hand it don`t matter about the Drum Majors as now that Blake is back there will only be one. To take it a step futher there will be no tryouts. he chooses the DM himself. Look for the band to go back to the Early and mid 90`s style.

Lonewolf, you mean, Melvin is gone as band director?

I loved the early 90's House of Funk.  No Flag corps, no majorettes,
just the band and the dancers and the shows were tight!!!!!

That was the best edition of the band for me.  nod

Yes, Melvin is gone. Blake, has come home.By the way, I have been told that he has once again gotten rid of the flags. They were not happy about but they burned their bridges  behind them so there is no chance they will be back.

Will be interesting to say the least since M-n-M was started by Blake 20 years ago this season.

GOOD! I never really thought the current flag team really added anything to the band, performance or otherwise. PLUS, the sound we had in those early 90's with Gaines was just damn incomparable!!!  Grin

Tony, thick or thin, I just think most of the flag corps that I have seen are just tired tired ti-yaaaawwwwnnnn-red and don't really add anything to the performance. Maybe it adds some kind of visual but you never hear anybody going on and on about how tight somebody's flag corps are.  lol

I will say that Miles has probably the best dressed flag corps I've ever seen, followed maybe by Albany State but overall....most of them, if they weren't there, like the girls who carry the banner, they would not be missed.  no

This is subjective so I will just add my viewpoint in as well...

Now our Bannergirls put in the work so I don't know if I agree with you on that one big bro.  nono2

Again, why are we separating out the different sections critiquing them to death? I mean the flags are a part of the whole package with a lot of the bands out there and I believe flags CAN bring something special to the overall show, now DO THEY that may be another story.  I have seen bands where the girls on the flags were either placed there because they didn't make the cut for the dancers, or they had to do a year with the flags before they could make the dancing line, or there weight did not allow for them to do the moves or wear the outfits the dancers do.  Then there are some people in the flag corp that LOVE BEING in the flag corp.  It just all depends.

A lot of bands flags just go through the motions and that is a shame but others put pride into what they do. I remember when FAMU had the beast of a flag core back in the day (not sure if they still have them or not).  You would here those guys whipping those flags through the air, IT WAS SOMETHING TO SEE! clap

Again this boils down to taste but I say keep the flags. When they are together and on point, I LOVE seeing them and the patterns they make with the flags.  clap OK maybe this is just the band geek in me.  Grin

I don`t know any of the girls on the flag line been gone too long. What I do know from my time working with the band that they can and do cause problems. The biggest problem we had was they wanted to be out front. Well with the way most HBCU bands drill that ain`t possible. Then they hate that  the dancers get all the attention. So then the start doing stand dance moves which if you are watching from the other side looks crazy because they are behind the dancers.

As far as the Diamonds go I think they will be there JT well maybe not all of them. Now I will say this the last time The House had a hell fire flag squad was 87. D@mn, there was some talent on that squad and they used to throw parties to end all parties. That was the year that the band turned on the Divas.

But, i think once Gaines gets the band they way he wants it It will be time for everybody else to put up or STFU!

NO biggie, just my personal preference. I look at bands like Southern, Jackson State, Tennessee State and they do great WITHOUT flags. I know Jackson State and Tennessee State had flags over 20 years ago back in those glory days, but not anymore.  So, unless they are really REALLY bringing something [and so far I ain't seen it], then they need to either play an instrument or sit down.  lol

I'm just saying.... naw, it ain't that serious, I'm just saying what I usually pay attention to, or what I think is worth paying attention to...and it damn sure ain't no flags.  no
