Florida A&,M 31, Morgan St. 17

Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Philip Sylvester rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries Saturday and Florida A&M earned a 31-17 victory over Morgan State in a Mid-East Athletic Conference game.

Sylvester gave the Rattlers breathing room on both his touchdowns. The first, on a 14-yard run with 5:09 left in the first half, put FAMU (5-3, 4-1) ahead 17-3. But Morgan State (4-4, 3-2) clawed its way to a 17-17 tie, getting a 1-yard touchdown run from Jephte Cherenfant in the third quarter and a 19-yard touchdown pass from Delonte Williams to Chuka Okakpu early in the fourth.

But Williams was intercepted by Jerral Stewart with 7:17 left and the sophomore defensive back returned it 37 yards for the touchdown that gave the Rattlers the lead for good. Sylvester's second touchdown, an 88-yard run, sealed it, once again giving FAMU a two-touchdown lead.

I was watching this game and actually thought MSU had a chance when they came back to tie the game at 17. I am glad that FAMU pulled out the win on their HC though. There were a boat load of penalties against the Rattlers and almost one against the band. Those alumni were  Angry. See you at the Classic snakes.

Rattlers hit home run with 31-17 victory (before 30,459?)
Rattlers hit home run with 31-17 victory

It wasn’t so much about Homecoming or even coming home for the Florida A&M football team. Nope, Saturday’s 31-17 victory over Morgan State was more about who stayed home for the Rattlers.

From an unlikely star who simply held his ground and made the game’s biggest play to a homegrown Rattler who ignited the crowd with another electric performance, the announced crowd of  ------ 30,459 ------- fans at Bragg Memorial Stadium had plenty of reasons to cheer Saturday. And the players and coaches who elicited that happiness knew they had to deliver for the home crowd.

What the fudge? You all either had about 5k ppl in the press box or some of you all were doubling up in the seats. Then on top of that, I counted 638 ppl in the band and 84 drum majors lol. On the real, congrats on your HC crowd and victory. And what do you mean you all are controlling the lights? Don't start none won't be none lol lol

30K is certainly possible.  Especially when the attendance record is 33K.  Ironically, that was against morgan state @ Homecoming too.

Definitely possible if the stadium seats [technically] 25,000.  You know most of our hbcu's cram em in for homecoming and don't turn nobody away.  Grin  Sounds like a great turnout for the Rattlers homecoming.  nod
