Depending on the type of RV it could get expensive.  A Class A RV could set you back $350 a day for a nice Class A.  You could also be required to pay a $1000 damage deposit.  You will be required to show you have insurance to cover the rental of the RV.

You can find some for under $200 a day.  If you get a good daily mileage rate you might have to rent one from as much as 100 miles away and drive in.  Once at Homecoming you won't drive it very much.

If you just want a place to crash and get out of the elements you might want to look into a travel trailer.  You would need a midsize or larger pickup or SUV.

Also, I checked rates at GetRV.com and you are better off renting one out of Richmond than DC.  You can rent the same Class A RV for $100 bucks less per day.

Cons:  If you do not have a vehicle that can be towed you will either have to rent a tow dolly, car trailer, or have someone follow you in a four wheeler.

Also, will you park it on campus for Homecoming week or will you just use it for Homecoming day?  You will be charged for using the generator.  Normally you get 10 hours a day free.

Don't think about idling the engine while parked on campus.  Diesel is expensive.  You will get zero gas mileage on a vehicle that is probably getting 6mpg at best.  Class A RVs have a minimum 100 gallon tanks.

Pros:  You can go to the RV park for around $30 a night.  You can do your own cooking.  It feels more like home.  You know exactly what your room looks like before you leave.

B4L, you went to Howard.  You have money.  Just buy one.  You should be able to get a Prevost while we are in this recession for around $900K.

Howard Pro and Cons for RV rental

Con- Driving the darn thing up 7th Street and Georgia Ave.
Hard to find parking space on Howard's campus.

Pro- At Howard you can drive up to the 50 yard line and park at mid field since attendance is so darn low.  (Except homecoming, when you may have to park it at the 30 yard line.) lmao lmao lmao

Said by the team thats been in  "transition" for a decade and who's basketball team was on ESPN for a sympathy piece on how bad they were.

Whenever A&T's slwoer country cousins come to DC I'll be sure to be there to get my laugh on.

B,

I've rented an RV for homecoming at TU for the last 6 years.  TU is a special case though because of the lack of hotels in the immediate area, and I don't like having to drive back and forth to go to a hotel (which could be anywhere from 20 miles to 40 miles away).

We always rent from cruiseamerica.com.  The largest RV they rent is 30-35' long and sleeps up to 7.  We usually have some friends who come in with us and need the extra space.

We normally pick up in Birmingham on Thursday morning.  Drive it to Tuskegee Thursday evening (about 115 miles), and return it Monday morning.  I can't remember the cost (wife normally handles those details), but I'll dind out from her.  I do know that insurance for the RV is normally included in the cost.  The only extras that I recall you'll have to pay for is if you use the onboard electric generator (they charge by the hour).  If you use the onboard propane (and you will, the refrigerator, hot water, and heat is run off of propane), you have to make sure you refill the propane tank before you turn it in.  Normally around 7 dollars total.

I really can't think of any cons.
