Proud graduate of Booker T. Washington of Atlanta,Ga.  We are Georgia's first public black high school.  1924 is when we started. We are on the national Registry of Historic places.

I don't know If I'm up on my DMV history, but I DO know that

Anacostia, Ballou, Dunbar, and Spingarn in DC

Fairmont Heights and Frederick Douglass in Prince George's County, MD

Dunbar in Baltimore.

TC Williams in Alexandria, VA

Only Dunbar  and Armstrong high school in DC were all-Black. I've meet white graduates of Anacostia. NPR Diane Rehm went to Roosevelt. TC Williams graduated its first class in 1967. The school was opened after Alexandria's Negro High school  Parker-Gray was closed.

Im glad to hear that so many historically Black HSs are still in operation and that North Carolina is up to 6.  Instead of opening brand new HSs to ease overcrowding they should re-open some of these HSs and simply add on to the buildings.  Its alot cheaper.  Back in Fayetteville, the overcrowding of Jack Britt and 71st could be solved if they simply re-opened Anne Chestnut as a HS.  It makes no sense to have 2 middle schools directly across the street from each other. smh

My old school was turned into a 9th grade only school after intergration then turned into a "School of Choice", mostly for pregnant girls and at risk students.

Later when the district went ENTIRELY to magnet schools they turned it into the Information Technology school.  Roll Eyes

One of my crab brothers in the Sonic Boom graduated from Booker T. Washington in Tulsa.  We also had a few members who were alums of Miami Northwestern (their former legendary band director is a JSU alum).
