I was counseling a AA female Age 24 who informed me she was involved with a married man and have already bought her wedding dress and set a date. Keep in mind the guy is separated, getting ready to deploy and is MARRIED. The girl gave me a headache on the spot. She is so in love with dude, I don't know what direction to go with old girl.

She has self-esteem issues and drinks(heavy liquor) to self-medicate. I told her to see me tomorrow with a list of positive and negative about what she likes about herself. She said " I know it is wrong, but f**k up. Straight from D.C

Plenty of women do this. It's much more common than some people think.

Yes they do. And it is so sad.

This particular young lady is 24--and she is stuck on marrying someone who isn't even in a position to marry.

Oooh! When I was 24---it wasn't even about marriage or even a relationship.

It was about me, me, and me and my friends!

Same here GAL FAM.  The sad part is she has 3y/o twins by her ex and he cheated on her with his current wife. He wants to keep the kids while she is deployed, but haven't done anything for them. ( this is what she says).

WOW! Kids are invloled?!

Hopefully she can and will understand that right now her life should be about her children and taking care of herself.

She cannot do anything worthwhile until she get that mindset.

J -

when she comes in for her next session, you should have The Spinners' classic hit, "It takes a fool", subliminally playing in the background.

Not that simple, Mr. Cap. I take interest in our sisters. Especially is this Man Army.

She came in early for appt. Very intelligent girl, who was going to Old Dominion before coming into the Army. Very impressive with her list, in which we discussed at length. She came in yesterday with this big a-- clamp in her head. I told her to pull her hair back and start looking the part in and out of uniform. She came in today with her hair pull back, looking much better. We will see how this play out.
