i don't know but Duke's case is getting stronger by the day An ACC tourny championship and a loss by Kansas State and it should be a wrap.

Yes, withut a doubt.  They lost to the #20 ranked team in the country.  I don't think I'm mistaken on this, but that is the only quarterfinal matchup this year where two ranked teams faced off.  At #20 in the country, GTown was a 8 seed in the BEast.  Yep, #20 in the country....only 8th best in your conference.....

Plus, who else would you move up ahead of them?  The only cases I can make, and they are very weak ones, is if Ohio State runs the table in the Big 10 or if Kansas State wins convincingly over Kansas in the Big XII.  As for Duke, I think it's clear the ESPN lobbyists (Vitale, Bilas and company) have ensured that Duke will get a #1 seed this year.

They should. Losing in the conference tournament doesn't eliminate a # 1 seed. Look at UNC last year and in 05. But isn't this two in a row for Syracuse now  shrug

If West Virginia wins the Big East I think they will knock the Orange back to a #2.

If Duke wins the ACC they are deserving of a #1 seed.  They are #2 in the RPI.

As of now:

1.  Kansas
2.  Duke
3.  Kentucky
4.  WVU (with the Syracuse loss)

Let's see how the other tournaments pan out.

Like most people are saying, I think the' Cuse will still get a #1 seed.  I know one thing for sure, the BEast can't wait for the tournament to end and get it on in the NCAA's.  After beating up on each other all season long the BEast will be battle tested from conference play and ready for the rest of the conference.

I wonder how many BEast teams will receive NCAA bids?

The Big East could EASILY put 10 COMPETITIVE teams into the field of 64 with FIVE of them legitimate contenders for the National Title.

Syracuse is CERTAINLY one of if not THE best team in the Country... but G-Town had their number today.

Should that stop 'Cuse from getting a #1 seed? It shouldn't, but it probably will.

Doesn't matter; the ONLY team with a good chance of beating Syracuse, Villanova, W.Va, Pitt, or G-Town will be a team from their own conference.  nod

Don't sleep on the Big Ten or Big Twelve this year.  Ohio State, Michigan State, Kansas, Purdue, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Mizzou, and Baylor will all be formidable opponents.  Lest we forget, Syracuse has a exhibition loss to LeMoyne on their schedule.

I hear you... but those teams would lose to second level Big East teams.

Syracuse, Georgetown, Villanova, West Virginia, and Louisville all have some of the toughest schedules in the country and all have done reasonably well.  nod

G-Town has wins over some VERY good teams this year including yesterdays victory, and when they are on, NOBODY can stop them.

Syracuse lost to Georgetown because it was their 3rd time facing them this year. G-Town had an early lead the first game, and came back from 23 points down with 12 minutes to go in the second game. Other schools won't have the luxury of knowing how to deal with that monster 2-3 and that inside-outside game the Orange kill people with.

And Scotty Reynolds can and WILL beat most teams by himself. Villanova is too strong for teams outside the BEAST.  tiptoe

Pitt, Louisville, ND, WVa... their out of conference schedule looks like a slaughterhouse of the rest of the NCAA! Their losses came IN HOUSE against the stronger competition of their home conference.

I wouldn't worry about teams outside the BEAST. Remember how the Hoyas  kicked  the ACCs best to sleep... and they finished in EIGHTH place in the BEAST!?!?   dedhorse  lol nod

Syracuse should never get a Number 1 seed as long as Boeheim is their coach.
