"(He said,) 'If you don't give it all to me, I will kill you,'" Jones said. "By then, I started feeling a sharp object coming in my back." Jones said the man threatened to kill her if she moved and kill her family if she reported the robbery.

She said she was not about to just roll over. She said she followed the man through the aisles and yelled for help. "I got right behind him and I was going after him," Jones said. "I was not going to let him get away and nothing happen."

However, she said that's exactly what happened. Jones said the robber just strolled out of the store past employees inside and security outside. She said the manager told her that the security guards cannot get involved with robberies. "He said even if the security guards had been inside the store, there's nothing that they can do," Jones said. "They are there to protect the store."   shrug

 shrug  Sooooo......lemme get this straight

I can stab, rob, beat, kill somebody up in WalMart and walk right on out the door.

BUT.......   brickwall

If I try leaving with merchandise, those cats will wrestle you to the death?

Wow, fantastic - great. Good to know the merchandise is guarded at all costs.

Customers in aisle 7, please step over or go around the wounded or dead body laying on the floor.

Oh and we got strawberries on sale today.   Roll Eyes

Cmon JT, you know what's more important to Wally....the merchandise and inventory.....not the dead prez in your pockets before you hand it all over to their cashier....

This is just as bad as the incident out in Seattle.  What's the point of having these $9 an hour rent a cops if they aren't going to be given the authority to protect people?

They are paid to protect the building.  They did their job.

JayT,

Just do not try that at that Walmart on Thornton Rd.   no    Although you maybe able to get away with it at the one on Howell Mill Rd.  Douglas Co will respond much faster than the ATL PD.

True, but there is something called "going beyond the call of duty".  No matter what I'm getting paid to do, there is no way I can stand idle and allow someone to get robbed or beat up.  That's just me!!

not sure if it's been posted here yet, but did yall hear about the 9 y/o tyke who called 911 to report a robbery in process.  Little man asked for the cops....and then told the dispatcher to send soldiers....all this wile hiding out in the bathroom with his little sister.  the cops were enroute when the bad guys discovered him on the phone in the bathroom, then they fled the scene before apprehension....

I understand that it's not in their job description, but sometimes you have to make decisions that aren't asked of you.  How would it look for Walmart had they reprimanded a security officer for being a heroic citizen in the face of danger.  They would look like a bunch of idiots!!!!
