Do you think there is much difference in the mind of a kid when he/she is deciding to attend a DI HBCU or a DII? Personally if I were at that point I would select a D2 school just so I could have the opportunity to play and win championships. I would not attend a DI HBCU based solely on sports, period! In 20 years I will want to be ale to say that I was on the team that won the conference and went to the playoffs. I will take Virginia Union's national championships over the play in game of the Ncaa Tourney.

Beleive it or not, some kids like to play against major competition. I suspect if there is a D-I school that wants these kids then WSSU will lose their best players.

True. But to listen to some of y'all, if these kids could have gone to another D-1 school, they would have before coming to WS...

What makes you think they didn't receive other D1 scholarship offers?

If you're talking to me, that's not what I said. Go back and  read please. I believe I said "But to listen to some of y'all"...

Man, if they stay together, WSSU can rule the CIAA next season. Think of this, if say for instance, the juniors transfer to another D1 team, they would have to try out and hopefully make the squad and have no guarantee of starting.

I hope you folks will continue to support your alma mater under all conditions. Just know that the college is bigger than any single administration. There have been many times that I could have easily walked away from Shaw, but I always calm down and realize that Shaw is much bigger than me. The school was here before I was born and hopefully will be here long after I'm dead. I had to stop focusing on what others have or what others are doing and appreciate what we do have.
No, WSSU will not be going to  the MEAC, but if you can be brutally honest ask yourself these two questions:

1) Was WSSU really financially able to support DIAA at this time or would it have put an burden on the college and it's students?

2) Is the MEAC/IAA worth it? I'm not trying to down the MEAC but lets be honest here. If you're not in the highest NCAA level, you're not highly regarded. I was watching a football movie once and they made a joke of the fact they had Appalachian State on their schedule. On the day high school players sign letters of intent, if you're not going to a DI school, the camera pans on past you.  nod

I would say the best of the Ciaa/Siac could compete well with the best of the MEAC/SWAC. WSSU was not the best of the MEAC and would likely end up with a similar record in the Ciaa.  This is my personal opinion only.

lol sorry, but that was funny.  I will like to encourage you to continue to support WSSU.  I can understand how you feel, but you guys are still WSSU.  No division can take that away.

Honestly, I will continue to give academically but it will be alot less.  shrug

You got no arguement from me on that one, but the recruiting playing field will be level for WSSU now. In the MEAC, they couldn't compete with the likes of Morgan State and A&T for the top talent.

Please expand on the Shaw remark, but first know what you are about to jump into.  I have never made Shaw into something it is not, so you won't hear me arguing with a false sense of entitlement or self worth.  Shaw is what it is and those of us associated with it know this. You invite us to the party, we're coming dressed in what we have. We are not staying home because our cloths don't look as good as what the Aggies have on.  no

I was talking to you. And I can read. I didn't interpret it that way. Which is why I responded to what you said.

Excuse me but I'm not responsible for YOUR interpretation of what I said. Like I said, if you can READ, then what I said needed no interpretation. It was self explanatory...
