Great article about a great family. I saw their dad during the time the CIAA was in Winston. I have known Steve since he played at JC Smith. I did a piece on them in the last Sport Encyclopedia. One of the readers didn't believe such a story existed in Black college sports. My reply was that it is likely that it could only exist in Black colleges. The other part was about the Jones Brothers at Albany State. After I explained the family atmosphere, they decided to allow their child to visit an HBCU, and, they loved WSSU.

Good folks and great story.

I remember Steve playing for that GREAT Atkins team of '69, and of course for the Junior Blue & Gold Demons. He was smart enough to marry one of my classmates though!!!
