So Cholly and Valley:

I want to send my heartfelt appreciation for this thread.  Thursday night I was out-at night- determined to rake my leaves myself.  Got a pain in my chest that didn't go away.  Finished the yard, hung up the Christmas wreath, set out the pointsettas, came in the house and my chest was still hurting.  I took a shower and laid down and it didn't stop.  Normally I would have just taken a tylenol and chalked it to I pulled a muscle or indigestion--or something that would go away, and gone to sleep, but THIS conversation nagged me. "Take care of yourself...be proactive." I got up and went to the ER of a SUPER GREAT HOSPITAL here in Richmond.  Ended up staying overnight having a barrage of tests done to make sure it wasn't my heart...even though I am low risk and promised the Doctors that I didn't think it was my heart.
It ended up that I just strained a ligament/muscle in my chest near my breastbone, (which is now the BIGGEST JOKE ACROSS THE BOARD from my family, friends, and even my students). I have a healthy heart, just don't know how to rake leaves.  But, I was glad I went to make sure and I truly owe it to THIS thread.  I kept saying we were just talking about it...what if it is my heart???  So thank you FAMILY seriously.  We don't know how words from people that you don't even know, in person, changes lives.  I THANK GOD, that I am good.  But, acknowledge that if it were my heart, you guys would have TRULY saved my life (Because I am so healthy and so busy taking care of everyone else, I get complacent about my own health), so THANK YOU BOTH-DEEPLY.  Love yuz guys, sista VG and Uncle Cholly. hugs hugs

clap

REALLY glad to hear you are OK! SERIOUSLY glad to hear that. nod

Keep thinking, better safe than sorry PLEASE; we want you around for as long as we can have you ok?  Grin  hugs

Thank you all.....This is a very important thread....that we should ALL appreciate.  I don't know what a moderators sticky is....but this thread deserves one if it's a good thing.  Seriously....

And Y, that is EXACTLY where I went St. Francis Bon Secouris off of Midlothian.  I would recommend that HOSPITAL to anyone, exceptional.  Fortunately I had taken a friend of mine there a few weeks before, or I wouldn't have known where to go. And I don't have ANY family here, I am the only one here in the Richmond area-only my many students. But I surely didn't want to tell them because the word would spread and they'da all been there...LOL.
My family and friends and even my doctor are home in DC/MD and I was not about to have the ambulance come to my house and take me wherever and all my neighbors worrying about me and asking me a whole bunch of questions.  So my options were limited in my own mind.  If I were short of breathe though, I would have called the ambulance.

And I am not sure how old Cholly is....But,  I believe based on his posts that I may be young enough to be his niece. If he is not over 50, I should have said lil sister.  So I mean it as a term of endearment and an adoption to family, just as I refer to VG as my sista- although I believe I'm the oldest...LOL.  My younger mentees often call me Auntie.Aunt Z.  So, by no means is it meant to be disrespectful just a show of familial deference.  I hope he understands.

THANK YOU!!!

BTW....

CNNs "Black In America 2" did an EXTENSIVE segment on an EXTREMELY aggressive type of breast cancer that strikes Black Women at twice the rate of white women. The so-called tripple negative breast cancer doesn't respond well to Radiation therapy or surgery, and it is VERY important that it is detected early for the best chance to successfully treat it.

Cool  hugs  I like that, now you have and adopted niece. Grin

I will definitely be more diligent about my total health from this point forward-from exercising to preventive care to diet.  Seriously... And I hope and pray that all of the Onnidan family who reads this will do the same no matter how big or small the issue may be.
