Cap
A scoop or two of ice cream is not going to kill you or anyone else unless you are not specifically told not too.
You don't want to spend no money
You don't want to eat anything that taste good and may not necessarily be healthy

WTF do you do?

Thanks for "push pinning" this important thread!  clap  We must continue to  read info like this so that we can act on it and take care of this very important health concern with men in general, and specifically African American Men.

Last year was my first time having the exam. Of course I had all the uncomfortable feelings about it going in. But, in the end, it lasted all of maybe one minute. So, afterwards I asked, why do brothers not have the exam as opposed to getting prostate cancer? Homophobia plays a HUGE part in it. But, in the end, prostate cancer is not a nice way to go. I'd rather have the exam than going out like that. no

Let me also add to Capler and others, you don't have to completely cut out all the foods you like. Just eat some of those things in MODERATION. But more importantly, make sure you're eating healthy most of the time and get at least 4-5 days of EXERCISE.

Need to make one other point..........................................

Did any of yall notice that in the video Charlie says that "every year my wife has been trying to get me to go to the doctor"? It is a documented fact that married men live longer than single men. Most research reports that the reason for this is exactly why Charlie went to the doctor. Their wives "nag" them to go.

Brothers, why is that so many of us are reluctant to just go and get an annual physical exam....................................even when we have health insurance?  shrug

For me that's one of the most frustrating things about us..............................aside from the lack of exercise. If Charlie had not gone, he'd be dead by now. no

I think the #1 mode of exercise that men need to do, and is hardest to get them to do, is aerobic exercise. Walking, running, biking, swimming, etc. That gives you the most heart protective and, cancer protective benefit when it comes to exericse. Strength training can also have a benefit in those areas, but not NEARLY as much as aerobic exercise. Strength training is good for keeping your metabolism up, protecting bones, maintaining strength for activities of daily living, and aesthetics.

Personally, my workouts change periodically. Right now, I'm in my phase where I'm doing more strength training than aerobic. I always go heavy on the stregnth training in the months before summer so, I don't look ridiculous in a swimsuit. But, I don't stop aerobic exercise completely. During this phase I'm doing strength training four days a week and aerobic three days a week.

When I decide to train to run in 5Ks or 10Ks I increase my running to five days a week and strength train three days a week. This is usually in the fall. During the summer I run 3-5 days a week and strength train 2-3 days a week.

At my last physical my cholesterol was at 142.

What I suggest to most guys is just start by walking 3-5 days a week first. Then as you get in better shape you can incorporate more if you want. I'm single so, I have time to do all that stuff. Most of my married friends don't work out like me. Wink

Plus, I'm still on the market. Gotta keep it tight. lol

I HAD AN INTERESTING EXPERIENCE AT MY CHURCH SPONSORED MARRIAGE RETREAT THAT GAVE DOCUMENTED REASONS WHY MARRIED MEN LIVE LONGER THAN SINGLE MEN.   SEMEN IS SUSPOSED TO BE RELEASED PERIODICALLY FROM THE BODY.   THAT IS THE REASON FOR WET DREAMS STARTING IN YOUNG MEN.  THE RATE SHOULD BE 4-5 TIMES A WEEK WHEN A MALE REACHED SEXUAL MATURITY AND BY AGED 45 A MINIMUM OF 1-2 TIMES A WEEK.    EXCESS (UNRELEASED) SEMEN IS A DOCUMENTED DIRECT CAUSAL EFFECT OF PROSTRATE CANCER.  THE MINISTER ENDED THE CLASS DISCUSSION BY TELLING THE WIVES THAT SEX WAS NOT ONLY THEIR DUTY TO THEIR HUSBANDS AS STATED IN THE BIBLE BUT BY A NATURAL WAY TO EFFECTIVELY REDUCE THE CHANCE OF PROSTRATE CANCER IN THEIR HUSBANDS.  WE TRIED TO KEEP THE CLASS MATURE BUT YOU CAN IMAGINE THE JOKES THAT RESULTED.   SINCE THAT CLASS THE MEN OF MY CHURCH, INCLUDING THE DEACONS AND PASTOR MAKE IT A POINT OF GREETING EACH OTHER WITH "PRAISE THE LORD AND I AM STILL CANCER-FREE" lol

SO I GUESS THE TEACHNING POINT HERE IS THAT IF A MAN IS NOT MARRIED OR HAS NOT A REGULAR SEXUAL PARTNER HE SHOULD TAKE MATTERS INTO HIS OWN HANDS TO INSURE HE REDUCES HIS CHANCES OF PROSTRATE CANCER.

Thanks for the public announcement.  That is an alarming rate.  One way to fight off prostate cancer is to eat tomatoes and tomato by-products.
